ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management
(Previously Introductory Certificate in First Line Management)
First line managers with little or no formal training, or people returning from a career gap, can benefit particularly from this programme which provides an ideal start to future ongoing development.
The Award in First Line Management is a short, flexible programme which provides an introduction to the wide range of responsibilities of the first line manager.
Course Content
The programme combines key elements of the certificate in a tightly focussed package which can produce a step change in performance quickly and economically.
The programme consists of:
An induction, a compulsory unit of 'Solving Problems and Making Decisions',
a selection of optional units from the total 34 units
available on the Full
Certificate and tutorial support for assessment.
How long will it take?
The whole programme will take six days. Timescales are flexible according to personal or professional needs. Each programme will have a primary tutor to guide the group through their learning and assessment.
We recommend the following timetable options:
Option 1
Six days - one day per week or per fortnight
Option 2
Two x three day blocks either fortnightly or monthly
Option 3
Three x two days either weekly, fortnightly or monthly
Assessment
* Separate assessments of each of the optional units
* One Work Based assignment of no less than 1000 words, set by the ILM
* Time for assessment is outside of the guided development hours
Entry Requirements
No formal entry requirements, but participants should be practising or potential first line managers with two years full-time (or three years part-time) work experience, and a background which will enable them to benefit from the programme.
As you might expect, the ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management offers a valuable preparation for the ILM Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management and can be used as a bridge back into learning.
